Les Miserables
by: Victor Hugo
Les Miserables is about many people. The main character of the book is Jan Val Jean, (French) who was once a criminal to becoming the mayor of a little city in Paris. As his journey goes on, a man by the name of Javre, a cop at the time when Val Jean was in prison, starts to wonder if the mayor is truly Val Jean, so he can put him back in jail. Through the book you will see how Val Jean has to flee Paris because he sees Javre and knows he wants to lock him up in prison.
Val Jean takes a leave of absence to flee from Paris so that he can find a place to hide. Javre hears that Val Jean has left and won’t be back for a long time, because of pride he goes after him day and night. While Val Jean leaves he changes his appearance, and his name. Through that time Val Jean meets Fantine who has been dying and she happens to have a child. Val Jean promises to Fantine that he will always look after Cosette, (her child).
I enjoyed this book because it teaches people about different cultures. The book also is very interesting because of the suspense it has. Whoever enjoys suspense books should read this book.

Rosa Parks: My Story
Rosa Parks: My Story
Rosa Parks’s story is a good book because of everything that goes on in it. Rosa Parks' book talks about segregation and all the struggles she went through to finally get her freedom. The book goes through from Rosa was a child and how she was since her passing a couple years back. One story she talked about was how when she was little her grandfather told her the thing he never wanted them to do was work for a white man. Rosa grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, she went to Mrs. Whites school were she was one of the top students in her class.
Rosa Parks as a young woman (17) started to date Raymond Parks, who was a barber at the time. Rosa eventually did marry him and had a great marriage with him until he died.
This book in my opinion is a great book because it teaches character and history. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys history, biography, or anyone who enjoys reading about the world and its history.

Who am I Without Him?
This book is by Sharon G. Flake, whom in my opinion is a great author. She leaves you wanting more and you can never get enough. She continued to showcase her greatness in this book, “Who am I without Him?” In this book she tells numerous stories about kids who get stuck in sticky situations by chasing after the opposite sex. Some try to impress while others try to escape. I think that this book is great for both boys and girls; it gives great information for both genders. This book tells from different points of view, for instance in one story you hear from a pregnant teen, a boy and girl that come from two different worlds , and from many more individuals that make you wonder, “What would I do?”
